Editorial policy
Last updated:
Whatify Money is a solo project. I’m Tom Brancato, its author and publisher. I write and check its guides and tool explanations. There is no separate editorial team or outside reviewer.
How I check the work
Before I publish, I check the claims, sources, inputs, assumptions, and reported results. I aim to use plain English and show the limits of each example. I may use AI tools to help draft text and code, but I am responsible for what I publish.
“Last checked by the author” means I checked that page. It does not mean a second person checked it. The content is not independently reviewed or a substitute for personal financial advice.
Sources and examples
I link to original sources where I can, such as government rules, source data, and research papers. I note the year or version when it matters. A source supports the claim next to it, not every part of the tool.
For results I publish, I describe the setup and key assumptions. Where available, I share data files and run details so readers can inspect the work. I say when code or data is not public, so a reader knows what they cannot repeat on their own.
A match with saved results from another calculator is a useful check. It is not a fresh run by that calculator’s team, an outside audit, or their approval of Whatify Money. A check of one rule does not prove the whole model is right.
Changes and dates
When a rule, source, or model change affects a claim, I check the claim again and rerun the examples it affects. For a major change or a correction that affects the meaning, I add a note explaining what changed.
The publication date marks the first release of a page. The update date marks a change to that page, not a routine software release. An author-check date records an actual check; it is not added just because a page is old.
Report an error
Please email me with the page link, the claim or result that looks wrong, and a source or example if you have one. Please do not send account numbers or other private financial details. I check reported errors and correct confirmed mistakes.
What this content can tell you
These tools and guides help explain tradeoffs. They use simplified rules and cannot cover every household or future event. Past returns do not promise future returns. A test result is not a promise about your plan.
Whatify Money provides education, not personal financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Its terms explain these limits in more detail.
