This summary is here to make the policy easier to understand. The full Privacy Policy below is the official version.

1. Overview

Whatify Money is an educational money planning tool that helps users explore “what if?” scenarios using estimates, assumptions, and user-provided inputs.

We designed the service to limit data collection. We collect the account, scenario, usage, device, referral, and approximate-location information described in this policy, and we collect it to operate the service, understand how people use it, improve the product, communicate with users, and maintain basic security.

For scenario planning, we encourage users to provide reasonable estimates instead of exact sensitive details.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Whatify Money, we may collect the following categories of information.

Account and contact information

We may collect:

  • Email address
  • First name or preferred name
  • Account or product-updates signup status
  • Login or authentication-related information
  • Communication preferences
  • Purchase records for a pack you buy, such as the date of the purchase and a Stripe reference

We use this information to operate your account, send product updates, provide product communications, and respond to messages.

Scenario information you choose to provide

When you use scenario planning tools, you may choose to enter information such as:

  • Income estimates
  • Expense estimates
  • Savings or cash buffer estimates
  • Debt or payment assumptions
  • Scenario preferences
  • Planning goals or notes
  • Other financial assumptions you choose to provide

We use this information to generate educational scenario outputs and improve the product experience.

If you choose to save a retirement baseline, we also store the household facts and plan you entered — such as who is in your household, your savings, your spending, the year each person plans to stop working, and your Social Security claiming ages — on our servers, tied to your account. We also store your yearly earnings, any part-time pay after you stop working, and whether your tax-deferred money is in a workplace plan or an IRA. If the two of you plan to stop working at different times, we store the spending, saving and health-coverage figures for the years in between. We use this information to start future retirement scenarios pre-filled with your own numbers. Your saved baseline is separate from any saved result, and changing it never changes a result you already saved.

You should not enter information that the service does not request.

Usage and analytics information

We may collect information about how users interact with Whatify Money, such as:

  • Pages viewed
  • Buttons clicked
  • Scenarios started, completed, saved, or re-run
  • Referring pages or links
  • UTM parameters or campaign information
  • Approximate device, browser, and operating system information
  • IP address, and the approximate location (such as country or region) derived from it
  • Error logs and diagnostic information
  • Date and time of activity

We use this information to understand product usage, improve onboarding, measure activation, diagnose issues, and make better product decisions.

Feedback and support information

If you contact us, complete a survey, respond to an email, or provide feedback, we may collect the information you choose to send.

This may include:

  • Feedback messages
  • Survey responses
  • Support questions
  • Bug reports
  • Product suggestions

We use this information to improve Whatify Money and respond to you.

3. Information We Avoid Collecting

Whatify Money is not designed to collect highly sensitive financial identifiers or unnecessary personal details.

Please do not submit sensitive identifiers. Do not enter Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, government IDs, third-party account passwords, or other sensitive information that Whatify Money does not request.

Please do not submit:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Bank account numbers
  • Credit card numbers
  • Debit card numbers
  • Government ID numbers
  • Passwords to banks or other third-party accounts
  • Full addresses
  • Precise location information, such as GPS coordinates or street-level location
  • Health information
  • Information about another person without permission

We do not ask for passwords to banks or other third-party accounts, and we never ask you to link a bank account. If you choose password sign-in, you create a Whatify Money password that is created and stored by our authentication provider.

We never ask you for a card number. If you buy a pack, Stripe asks for your card details on its own checkout page, and they go to Stripe rather than to us.

If you accidentally submit information that we do not need, we may delete it or remove it where reasonably practical.

4. How We Use Information

We may use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and provide Whatify Money
  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Generate educational scenario results
  • Save or display scenario information where the product supports it
  • Improve product design, usability, and performance
  • Understand which scenarios and features are used
  • Measure activation, engagement, and retention
  • Send product updates, onboarding emails, and feedback requests
  • Respond to support questions or user messages
  • Diagnose bugs, errors, and reliability issues
  • Maintain security and prevent misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information to provide financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, credit, debt, or insurance advice.

5. Educational Scenario Data

Scenario inputs and outputs are used to provide educational planning experiences.

Scenario results are estimates based on the inputs, assumptions, formulas, and models used by Whatify Money. They are not guarantees and should not be treated as professional advice.

We may use scenario data in aggregated or de-identified ways to understand product usage, improve scenario design, test assumptions, and improve the alpha experience.

We do not intentionally use scenario inputs to recommend specific financial products, securities, accounts, loans, investments, insurance products, or professional services.

6. Analytics

We may use analytics tools to understand how people find and use Whatify Money.

Analytics may help us answer questions such as:

  • How many people visit the site?
  • How many people sign up for product updates or create an account?
  • How many users run a scenario?
  • Which scenarios are most useful?
  • Where do users get stuck?
  • Which product changes improve activation or engagement?

Analytics tools may collect usage events, device/browser information, referral information, campaign information, and similar data.

The amounts you enter into a scenario are not included in our product-usage events. Those events carry a fixed list of non-financial properties, and web addresses are stripped of their query values before an event is recorded.

Our analytics provider may process an IP address to estimate approximate location; retention depends on our configured provider settings. We use this to understand roughly where people are using Whatify Money from. We do not use it to determine your precise location.

We use analytics to improve Whatify Money. We do not sell analytics data.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies to:

  • Keep the service working
  • Remember preferences
  • Support account login
  • Measure site and product usage
  • Understand campaign performance
  • Diagnose errors and improve reliability

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work correctly if cookies or local storage are disabled.

8. Emails and Communications

We may send emails related to:

  • Account access or authentication
  • Product updates
  • Onboarding
  • Feedback requests
  • Surveys
  • Feature announcements
  • Marketing related to Whatify Money

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails.

Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still send service-related messages when necessary, such as account, security, legal, or transactional notices.

9. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising resale.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Whatify Money. The main providers we use today are:

  • Supabase — authentication and data storage (privacy policy)
  • PostHog — product analytics (privacy policy)
  • Sentry — error monitoring and diagnostics (privacy policy)
  • Amazon Web Services — hosting, infrastructure, and email delivery (privacy notice)
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid packs (privacy policy)

Payment processing. If you buy a pack, Stripe processes the payment. Stripe receives your email address and the payment details you enter on its checkout page. We receive confirmation of the purchase and a Stripe reference, not your card number.

We may also use providers for customer support and for security or fraud prevention. If we add or change a provider in a way that affects this list, we will update this policy.

These providers are allowed to use information only as needed to provide services to us, subject to their own legal obligations and contractual commitments.

We may also share information if required to:

  • Comply with law
  • Respond to legal process
  • Protect our rights, users, service, or others
  • Investigate misuse, fraud, or security issues
  • Complete a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets

10. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to operate Whatify Money, provide the service, improve the product, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our agreements.

During alpha, retention practices may evolve as the product matures. Where a service provider stores information for us, retention also depends on our configured settings with that provider.

If you request deletion, we will make reasonable efforts to delete or de-identify information associated with your account, unless we need to keep certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, backup, or legitimate business reasons.

Backups and logs may retain information for a limited time before they are deleted or overwritten.

You can delete your saved retirement baseline at any time from your Account page. Deleting your account deletes it too.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.

However, no method of transmission, storage, or processing is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can help protect your account by using secure login practices and contacting us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

12. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights related to your personal information, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain information.

You may also have the right to object to or limit certain uses of your information.

You can email us at tom@whatify.money to make a privacy request.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails.

13. Children’s Privacy

Whatify Money is not intended for children or minors.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Whatify Money.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we may notify you by email, in-app notice, or by posting an updated policy on the website.

The “Last updated” date will show when this Privacy Policy was last revised.

Your continued use of Whatify Money after an updated Privacy Policy takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
